Since our Mini Lites are DC powered and rely on the included (or 3rd party power supply/transformer) in order to power the lights, traditional plug-in dimmers, such as those used with lamps or other AC-powered light strings, will not work, as the transformer itself is not built to handle a "dimmed" input power.
NEVER plug your Tru-Tone Mini Lites transformer (the small power brick) into a AC-powered lamp-style dimmer.
That said, there are many "DC LED dimmer" modules on the market and you should be able to source them from places like Amazon. When shopping for a compatible dimmer, keep in mind that standard PWM dimmers are inexpensive and will work but they will also introduce a degree of flicker as they dim.
For a superior, flicker-free dimming experience at a full range of dimming, we recommend this more costly (but superior) third-party dimmer used for film and video production.
Regardless of what style of dimmer you choose, these dimmers will usually replace the power supply that is included with your Tru-Tone Mini Lites and will thus need to be wired in-line before the first mini lite on the string.
To do this without cutting your Mini Lite string, we offer an optional bare leads connector that you can use for this purpose (see image below).
The bare leads connector has male threading intended to attach to the female-threaded connection on the Mini Lites themselves, whereby the bare leads can be wired to your DC LED dimmer module.
