All Tru-Tone bulbs are sealed, have corrosion resistant bases and can be safely used both indoors and outdoors, in cold weather and with precipitation.
Please be aware, however, that the colored coatings on our glass bulbs are susceptible to UV exposure related fading over time, which can happen more quickly with extended, direct sun exposure. Certain pigments of colors are more prone to fading in sunlight than others, particularly Jeweltone Blue and Classicolor Orange.
In addition, the unpredictable nature of weather and wildlife may effect the longevity of your bulbs and light strings when used outdoors.
While we've done as much as we can to mitigate that fading with our classic glass bulbs, our polycarbonate Dura-Bulbs are our solution to outdoor fading. Made from a high quality polycarbonate instead of glass, we're able to infused the color directly into the plastic and thus be far more resistant to fading (and scratching, for that matter). We recommend exploring our Dura-Bulb lineup if you are concerned about UV-related fading or would like to use your bulbs for extended periods in the summer.
See the Storage and Care section of our Product Guide for more information about outdoor use, fading, and how to get the most out of your bulbs.
