Can I use your lights on my vintage aluminum tree?

We strongly advise against using any electric string lights on aluminum trees. The aluminum fringe that make up the branches can make contact with the electrical contacts of the bulb through the space between the bulb and the socket.

This can short out your bulbs, or worse, lead to extreme hazards such as electrocution or electrical fires.

Vintage packaging for aluminum trees warn of this, too, and is why they commonly used a color wheel spotlight to project light onto the aluminum tree instead.

Tru-Tone lights use very little electricity, but they still operate at standard 120 Volts AC household voltage.

We care about your safety first and foremost: please don’t use electric lights on your aluminum tree.

That said, modern "metallized polyester" trees (and garland) are generally considered safe to use with electric lights.
