What's the difference between C7, C9 and S14 bulbs?

Tru-Tone bulbs come in 3 sizes, each with a different base that fits a corresponding industry-standard socket size.

C7 Bulbs

C7 bulbs are the smallest threaded bulb we offer. They are about 1.5 inches (~3.8 cm) tall and have an E12 or Candelabra base. They are used for both indoor and outdoor decorations. Our C7 bulbs are compatible with all Tru-Tone E12 Classic Light Strings, E12 Deluxe Light Strings, and our Star Tree Top. The E12 base is also compatible with many night lights.

C9 Bulbs

C9 bulbs are slightly larger, about 2 inches (~5 cm) tall with an E17 or Intermediate base. They are more often used outdoors for larger scale projects, such as large outdoor tree displays or when lights are going to be viewed from further away. Our C9 bulbs are compatible with all Tru-Tone E17 Classic Light Strings. We do not currently sell a Deluxe Light String for C9/E17 bulbs.

S14 Bulbs

S14 bulbs are the largest bulb we offer. They are about 2.5 inches (~6.4 cm) tall and have a more rounded shape, with an E26 or Medium base. They are often used in marquee style signs or patio light strings. We do not currently sell any light strings for these bulbs, but they work great in commonly available patio light strings that use E26 base sockets.
