Many of our customers absolutely love the full rainbow of colors offered in our Spectra set of Classicolor bulbs – Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Teal, Blue, Purple and Pink. Naturally, folks who love our Jeweltone line wonder if we'll ever release a Spectra line of Jeweltone bulbs, too.
We like to "never say never" but unfortunately it's not something we're likely to do, but certainly not from a lack of wanting to.
One color we often get asked about for the Jeweltone line is Yellow. We made a decision early on to have that area of the color wheel in our Jeweltone Classic Mix to be covered by our "Amber/Orange" color. This color is a bit closer to Orange but has some Yellow-ish tones too (hence it's indecisive name), but we felt it more compatible with the rest of the colors in the Jeweltone Classic Mix for the vintage color palette we were going for.
For a more technical reason, our Jeweltone colors really benefit from their transparent coating being deeply saturated, almost dark, in order to produce a nice pleasing color when illuminated. The colors present in our Classicolor line that are missing from our Jeweltone line, such as Yellow and Teal, require far less pigment to be recognizable as those colors, but as a result, they are likely to fade much faster than our other colors when exposed to the harsh UV light of the sun when used outdoors for extended periods.
So while the Jeweltone palette will likely never match the Classicolor palette one-for-one, we've been exploring adding a few additional darker colors where that saturation limitation wouldn't be an issue, such as a long-requested Purple Jeweltone.
